I am based at Clowne in North Derbyshire and my caseload covers Amber Valley and the High Peaks and Dales, including both FNP and F1st clients. Our work supports young, vulnerable parents and their families and we offer an intensive home visiting service meeting our clients early in pregnancy and continuing until their child reaches the age of two years. "I feel like I am always learning, and I am constantly surprised by the resilience and positivity of our parents who have often overcome great difficulties." What are the FNP's and Family First's aims?: Our aims are to improve the health of mum and baby and promote healthy parenting skills, relationships and child development, with a focus on positive attachment, stimulation and improving self-confidence and self-efficacy. Home visits develop a therapeutic relationship between nurse and client and aim to support our clients in all aspects of becoming a parent. What are the most rewarding aspects of your work?: The most rewarding aspect of my role is the privilege of seeing my client and their children establish positive relationships and safe, healthy lifestyles. I love my job, which enables me to really get to know and understand my clients. I feel that I am always learning, and I am constantly surprised by the resilience and positivity of our parents who have often overcome great difficulties. Find out more about Family First.
